In this workshop you will learn basic sewing skills to enable you to work on projects at home.
We will cover a variety of simple sewing exercises on sample pieces building up a sample file for you to keep and use as a reference.
During the workshop, we will cover;
Threading your machine, winding and inserting a bobbin
Needles and Feet
Measuring and pattern reading
Cutting and pining
Straight seams, seam allowances and seam finishes
Mastering corners and curves
Adding a zip
Adding a pocket
Working with bias binding
Working with shirring elastic
Introduction to jersey fabrics
Working with batting
You will then design a cushion cover using the skills you have learnt to make a zipped or button down cushion cover, adding detail through what you have learnt on the day.
All materials, equipment, and sewing machines are provided. Refreshments will be available throughout the day, you can either bring a packed lunch or order from The Foxlowe Café.
